The economic system in Ecuador is social and solidarity-based, comprised of forms of public, private, mixed, and popular and solidarity-based organization. This study aims to analyze public policies for the popular and solidarity economy in Ecuador. To do so, the research is based on a descriptiveanalytical methodology, employing NATO instrument analysis through a documentary review of regulations, official documents, databases, and studies associated with the topic. Among the main findings is that there have been advancements in recognition for the popular and solidarity economy sector, in terms of modality, authority, funding, and organization. However, there are still some pending challenges towards the consolidation of the sector.
