Journal History

The Deusto Estudios Cooperativos Magazine (DEC) edited by the Institute of Cooperative Studies of the Faculty of Law of the University of Deusto is the updated version of the Yearbook of Cooperative Studies, a pioneering publication in the field of Cooperativism and Social Economy, which began its journey in 1985 and remained uninterrupted in the market until 2001.

DEC is a biannual scientific publication, which was born, following the spirit of its predecessor, with a clear purpose of service and with the aim of contributing to the dissemination of original research papers on the subject of Cooperativism and Social Economy.

The Magazine begins to be published in 2012, a special year in a double sense; On the one hand, because that year was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations "International Year of Cooperatives", with the intention of highlighting the contribution of cooperatives to economic and social development, to the reduction of poverty, to the creation employment and social integration; and, on the other, because in 2012 the University of Deusto celebrated its 125th Anniversary, with which the DEC publication was a reflection of the commitment maintained by the University, for decades, with research in Social Economy."
