Una propuesta de caracterización del cooperativismo uruguayo
Abstract
Based on the review and assessment of the main antecedents a proposal of characteristics of the uruguayan cooperative movement is formulated present throughout its history and that make up its identity. In first Firstly, the strong link is pointed out, both in the origins and in the subsequent development, of cooperativism with social movements, which have functioned as cooperative promoters. The second characteristic refers to the integration of a cooperative movement united and respectful of the principles cooperatives. The third characteristic is the presence of cooperativism in all the country, throughout the territory and in a variety of sectors. Finally, the last characteristic refers to the relationship of cooperativism with the State and the independence and autonomy of cooperativism even when it has been conditioned by public policies. Each of these characteristics is subjected to analysis taking as a basis an extensive review of secondary sources integrated by the reference bibliography, public and movement documents and statistics from the National Institute of Cooperatives (INACOOP).
