Solidarity economy with a gender approach in Ecuador
Abstract
Despite the theoretical closeness of feminist economics and solidarity economy, in practice, women's participation in SE has not had adequate regulatory or institutional guarantees in Ecuador. The concern of public institutions to provide information on people's participation in SE disaggregated by gender is recent, which makes it possible to visualize the lesser opportunities that women have compared to men to fully develop in this economy. Even more serious is the total absence of information and therefore appreciation of the personal contribution that women make regarding human care and attention to domestic and community tasks that are not for the productive economy. It is necessary and urgent to implement actions that allow these activities to be counted, valued and economically and socially rewarded. Furthermore, we must promote a true change of roles in the activities that men and women carry out in the SE.
